Frequently Asked Questions

Yield percentage in Talos is calculated as EP weight divided by AP weight, multiplied by 100. The system supports separate values for prep loss and cooking loss, applied per ingredient per recipe. You set the values once — Talos applies them automatically across every recipe that ingredient appears in.
When a unit cost is updated in the Talos ingredient database, every recipe containing that ingredient is recalculated automatically. There is no manual re-entry required. The update propagates instantly across your entire recipe library.
Excel works at small scale, for a single user, managing a limited number of recipes. It breaks when prices change - because every affected recipe must be updated manually. It breaks when yield matters - because there is no calculation layer for AP-to-EP conversion. It breaks across teams - because there is no shared, live source of truth. Talos removes the manual reconciliation step entirely.
Talos is built for multi-outlet operations managing hundreds of standardize recipes. Recipes are organized by category, outlet, and menu. The platform scales with your operation - whether you are running one site or thirty.
Integration capabilities are part of the Talos roadmap. At this stage, the platform operates as a standalone culinary operations tool. If integration with a specific system is a priority for your organization, raise it during your demo - it directly informs our development sequence.
Most operations are fully set up within two weeks. Onboarding includes dedicated setup support, recipe import assistance, and team training. The timeline depends on the size of your recipe library and the number of outlets involved - both of which we assess during the initial demo.
